The great pizza caper, almost - Police were notified after someone attempted to order a pizza Friday afternoon using a card that had been reported lost or stolen.
The suspect and his party opened the door not to a pizza delivery man, but to police. They asked who ordered the pizza and Anthony David Pollard, 23, of Albany, admitted it was him.
After further questioning, he surrendered an Oregon drivers license, four credits cards, a gift card, a few business membership cards including Costco, and an Oregon Trail benefits card, all under someone else's name, said the case's primary investigator, Curtis Bell of APD.
After telling Bell several versions of the story, the final one involved Pollard accepting the personal identification items as a sort of temporary collateral payment for a $200 debt.
As of Saturday night, officers were unable to contact the victim to confirm Pollard's story.
Police arrested Pollard on charges of identity theft and fraud. He was lodged at the Linn County Jail and released Saturday morning.
Theft "ring" arrest - A Kohl's loss prevention specialist notified police after a suspect allegedly removed 20 rings, valued at $790, from the jewelry department Friday. The suspect fled the scene and crossed all four lanes of Interstate 5 on foot before being stopped by police officers on Aviation Way.

Marlow did not endanger anyone else as he did not block traffic when he ran across I-5, said Sgt. Casey Dorland.
