SWEET HOME - The Sweet Home Ranger District is offering a one-day hike to Crescent Mountain on Friday, Aug. 8.

This is a nine-mile, strenuous hike, so be prepared for some exercise. The leader Tony Farque, living history performer, will take you back in time with facts and stories of the rich history of this area.

Preregistration is required and on a first-come first-served basis. The fee is a non-refundable $10 per person, or $5 for those with a senior or access pass, and includes transportation from the district office at 4431 Highway 20.

The hike is offered under the Forest Service Recreation Fee Programs. Fees from the hikes help fund the protection and enhancement of historic sites for public use and enjoyment, and the continuation of conservation education programs about history and archaeology.

To make a reservation or to get more infor-mation about events, contact the Sweet Home Ranger District at 367-5168 or visit www.fs.fed.us/r6/willamette.
