ALBANY POLICE
Worried duck - Someone called police on Wednesday evening to say that a duck had been struck on Waverly Drive and was in the roadway. The caller said the injured duck's mate was worried about it. The injured duck waddled off and disappeared when an officer arrived.
Resisting arrest - On Wednesday evening, a man in the 2500 block of Santiam Highway S.E. was yelling profanities at a police officer who was passing by in his patrol car.
When the officer tried to make contact with the man, the man ran but then came back with his fists raised. The man stopped moving when threatened with a Taser but continued cussing. The man struggled with officers while they detained him. He scratched an officer and kicked another, according to police.
Douglas Michael Schwindt, 45, of Albany was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, harassment and assaulting a public safety officer. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
Collision - Police responded to a two-vehicle collision at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday on Pacific Boulevard S.W. near Calapooia Street.
According to police, a chip truck driven by Mark Allen Crockett, 44, of Sweet Home was stopped on the road because of trouble with the vehicle. As Crockett was getting flares out of the cab, a Ford Contour driven by Kaitlyn Alizabeth Bunn, 19, of Albany struck the back of the truck. She had minor injuries and was taken to the Albany hospital. Crockett was cited for illegal stopping.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Crash - Deputies and medics responded to a single-vehicle crash at midnight Wednesday on Three Lakes Road near Grand Prairie Road.
According to the sheriff's office, a 1995 Ford Explorer went off the road at a corner and into a ditch. The driver, George Aiden Horning, 16, of Albany, was cited for careless driving and driving in violation of license restrictions. The passenger, Sean Patrick Barns, 17, of Albany was taken to the Albany hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to the Corvallis hospital.
