People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
Albany Police
Danger to fish — A woman called police early this morning to say her husband punched her fish tank in their home in the 900 block of Fifth Avenue S.E. while they were arguing. The wife told her husband “she needed to put her kids first and they should end their relationship.” The husband and the children were not at home when police arrived.
No information was available about what happened to the fish.
Religious talk — Police were called about 2:45 this morning to the 3500 block of Oak Street S.E. to investigate why two men were yelling at each other.
They said they were not yelling, only having a loud discussion about religion.
Fall from trestle — A 48-year-old man was taken from the emergency room at the Albany hospital to Oregon Health & Science University about 5:30 this morning after falling about 20 feet from a train trestle near Pine Street and Old Salem Road.
The man suffered a broken pelvis, back and sacrum.
The man had a warrant for his arrest but because of his injuries he was taken to the hospital instead of jail.
Manhole cover gone — A manhole cover in the 100 block of Lyon Street N.E. was reported missing about 6:05 this morning. It was found later at the top of the overpass in the middle of the sidewalk. Albany public works crews were to replace the cover.
Prowling cat — A cat loose inside a veterinary hospital in the 900 block of Queen Avenue set off a motion detector part of a security alarm about 2:10 a.m. Sunday.
Irritating alarm — Several people in the Fescue Street Southeast area called police starting about 3 a.m. Sunday to report an alarm would go off, then quit and then start again.
Police discovered the misfiring alarm was at Brattain International. It was found that the alarm would activate and then reset itself and then activate again.
Police found a person familiar with the alarm and asked him to fix the problem.
Man attacks bush — Police found an intoxicated man attacking a bush, walking into traffic and beating a stop sign about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Queen Avenue S.E. The man had a large knife. No other information was available.
Bad news — A man set his newspaper on fire while standing in the roadway in the 500 block of Second Avenue S.W. about 9:05 p.m. Saturday. The man told police he was burning a newspaper because he “didn’t like what he had read.”
Linn County Sheriff’s Office
Tired driver — A man who had been at work since 5 a.m. Sunday got sleepy about midnight while driving his car in the 33000 block of Seven Mile Lane and drifted into a ditch. The wreck occurred north of Highway 34.
The 23-year-old driver from Lebanon refused medical treatment.
Mail found — A “big bag” of stolen mail was recovered Sunday morning in the 25000 block of Old Holley Road. Mail inside belonged to several people living on Crawfordsville Drive, Pickett Lane and Old Holley Road.
Rock hunter — A woman was spotted walking on the railroad tracks in the 40000 block of 24th Street in Lyons looking for something. Deputies found the woman with a halogen flashlight picking up rocks from the gravel area.
She was warned about trespassing on railroad property.
Wires down — Numerous reports of fallen wires were called into the sheriff’s office and other police agencies in Linn County starting shortly after midnight Sunday. Falling trees accounted for most of the wire problems.
Downed wires were on Mountain View Road, Gore Drive, Plagman Drive, Peoria Road, Sherman Street in Lebanon and Madison Street S.E. in Albany.
Sweet Home Police
Man pinched — A man wanted police to come to the 1500 block of Tamarack Street, saying his girlfriend’s daughter had pinched him about 5:40 p.m. Sunday. The 14-year-old girl was booked and referred to to the juvenile department for harassment. After her release from police custody, she ran away, later turning up at home.
