People arrested are innocent unless proved otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Alleged burglary - Police responded at 10:37 p.m. Wednesday to a call about a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1400 block of Tracy Court S.W. Officers arrested four people, all from Albany, and took them to the Linn County Jail.
The suspects were Elsa Marie Mattinson, 19; Jose Lyle Whosendorfe, 27; Kevin Lee Hanel Jr., 19; and Malachi Joel Harris, 25. They were each charged with various burglary offenses.
Pipe wrench - Police responded just before 3 p.m. Wednesday to call about a disturbance in the 800 block of Bradley Street S.E.
According to a police report, a man ran into the apartment to get away from another man. While the first man made his escape out the back window, the second man hit the front door with a pipe wrench and shattered a window.
Officers found a man nearby who matched the description of the wrench-wielding man. It turned out he wasn't the suspect, but the man did have an outstanding warrant for probation violation, so he was taken to the Linn County Jail.
Disturbance - Police got a call at 3:22 a.m. today about man with a knife breaking into his former girlfriend's home in the 1000 block of Gale Street S.W. By the time officers arrived, the man had left on a bicycle and had a pit bull with him. The 23-year-old man was arrested when he turned up at a family member's house on the other side of town. Police cited him for unlawful use of a weapon and trespassing.
Stabbing update - Police have determined the 17-year-old boy who went to the Albany hospital with a stab wound early Wednesday morning had injured himself after being upset over an issue with his girlfriend. Police said the boy was treated for his injury and kept at the hospital for a mental health evaluation before he was released.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Theft - A Craftsman riding lawn mower, Stihl weed cutter and a Homelite leaf blower were reported stolen Wednesday from a carport in the 35000 block of Santiam Highway. Value: $1,300.
Theft - A Miller welder, Senco nail gun and DeWalt cordless tool set were reported stolen Wednesday from the 200 block of Seventh Street in Lyons.
Car theft arrest - A 17-year-old boy was arrested at the Pioneer Villa Wednesday in connection with a pickup theft earlier that day. After the vehicle was stolen from a Brownsville residence, deputies found it on Linn-West Drive. The suspects initially got away. An employee with the county's road department later called to say he saw the boy coming out of the bushes along Highway 228 near the Pioneer Villa. The investigation continues.
SWEET HOME POLICE
Runaway report - Sheila Isreal is asking for help in locating her daughter, Alyssa Adams, 13, who ran away from home early Tuesday morning. Isreal believes her daughter went to be with another family member but doesn't know where they are staying.
Alyssa is described as 5-foot-3 and 180 pounds. She has pale skin, blue eyes and wears glasses. She has light brown, shoulder-length hair.
