ALBANY

Community pool to offer rec swim Friday

The Albany Community Pool will offer a recreation swim from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday during the no-school day. The swim will cost $2.50 for children under 18 and $3 for those older than 18. The pool is behind South Albany High School.

Poker tournament is Saturday at First Round

The Willamette Poker Tour will host a tournament at 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Round Bar and Grill, 129 First Ave. S.W. in Albany.

Games are held throughout the week at area bars and restaurants, including the Dixie Creek Saloon in Tangent, Denny's in Albany and Tailgaters Bar and Grill in Corvallis.

Carl Peterson, founder of the Willamette Poker Tour, said the tour is a group of people who play no-limit Texas Hold 'em at area bars for points and prizes. The tour will hold a championship tournament April 8, with the winner getting a seat at the upcoming World Series of Poker Satellite at Spirit Mountain Casino.

HARRISBURG

Collectible toy show will aid scholarships

The Harrisburg chapter of Dollars for Scholars will hold its 14th annual Farm and Construction Collectible Toy Show, which raises money for local high school scholarships, on Saturday.

The show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school gymnasium, 400 S. Ninth St. Admission will be $4 for adults, $1 for children ages 7-12, and free for kids 6 and under. Early floor rights admission is $10 per person from 7 to 9 a.m. only.

Vendors up and down the West Coast, and as far away as Michigan, will come with their toy displays. The show will feature 100 tables of collections, including collectors' series of cars, trucks, and antique farm and construction toys.

A breakfast of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, ham, fruit juice, tea and coffee and milk will be served from 7 to 10:30 a.m. A lunch of chicken and noodles, turkey or ham sandwiches and potato salad will be served from 11 a.m. on.

Each meal will cost $2 to $5, depending on what you order.

Dollars for Scholars raises $1,300 to $1,400 every year with the show. It uses that money to give scholarships to 11 to 15 high school seniors as they prepare for college.

LEBANON

Riverside School to host carnival

Riverside School in Lebanon will host a carnival from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in the school gym and cafeteria, 1011 Mountain River Drive, in Lebanon.

The theme is "1960s Tie-Dye." Tickets are $1 for the raffle baskets; $5 for the grand prize raffle basket. Wristbands are $5 for unlimited games and admission into the bounce house. Raffles will be held for numerous baskets and the grand prize basket, which includes a three-night stay in Newport and tickets to various attractions in Newport.
