Tourney raises $5,000 for cancer services

Spring Hill Country Club's Ladies Association and the Albany General Hospital Foundation raised more than $5,000 in a July 14 golf tournament for local cancer services. This is the first time the two organizations have partnered for the benefit golf tournament.

The tournament attracted 76 Spring Hill members and guests, with proceeds benefiting Samaritan Health Services' local prosthesis and survivor support funds.

Thursday talk to look at U.S. health care system

An emergency room physician, author and radiation oncologist will talk about the American health care system at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Two Rivers Market, 250 Broadalbin St. S.W., Albany.

Arkansas Picnic planned in Lebanon

LEBANON - The 2009 Arkansas Potluck Picnic will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at River Park in Lebanon.

Youth invited to sell, display art at festival

Applications are being accepted for artists to display and sell their work in the Young Artists' Area of the Red Robin/Carino's Children's Art Village at the Northwest Art and Air Festival, Aug. 28-30, at Timber-Linn Memorial Park.

Children ages 6-13 are invited to participate. Items must be handmade by the youth. The application fee is $10.

Parade enthusiasts invited to meetings

The Veterans Day Parade organizers, the Veterans Commemoration Association, invite all interested parties to the monthly general meetings at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the VFW Hall, 1469 Timber St., Albany.
