LEBANON - The Boys & Girls Club of Lebanon has received a $5,000 grant from the Juan Young Trust, which provides grants to nonprofit organizations "that promote the health, education and welfare of children under 21 years old, in the state of Oregon."
Grant funds will be used to enhance the after-school program, specifically to provide scholarship support for youth members unable to pay the $20 membership fee, to provide incentives for youth participants who successfully complete program components, and to purchase equipment and supplies for high-yield learning activities.
The club has 1,856 members, ages 6 to 18, with an average daily attendance in the after-school program of about 300. The 2008-2009 program will be at the main Club House, 305 S. Fifth St., and at the Seven Oak Middle School satellite site. Both programs are scheduled to begin on Sept. 8.
Membership applications are available at the club from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at www.bgclebanon.org.
