People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Fatal update - Albany police are still investigating the cause of a single-vehicle crash that killed a 43-year-old man this weekend.
The man's pickup was found wrecked at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Price Road near the entrance to Timber-Linn Park. Kevin Russell, an Albany-area resident, was dead at the scene.
Investigators have no witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information can call police at 917-7680.
Burglary - Someone broke into a residence in the 2100 block of 21st Place S.E. on Friday and stole two .38 Smith & Wesson revolvers, three 1-ounce gold bars, silver and coins. Police are investigating.
Alleged ID theft - Detectives arrested Angela Susan Gooding, 26, of Albany on Friday. Police said she had allegedly used names from the phone book to create fake merchandise receipts while working last summer at Costal Farm & Home Supply. The fraud was reported to police in September.
The people named on the receipts as well as Coastal Farm are named as victims in the case, police said.
Gooding was booked at the Linn County Jail on 21 counts of identity theft, four counts of first-degree theft and one count of second-degree theft.
Arrest - After receiving information from the state Department of Human Services, a detective investigated an alleged sexual abuse that occurred in 2003.
On Saturday, Eduardo Lopez-Gonzalez, 25, of Albany was charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of first-degree sodomy. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Burglary - Someone broke into a business in the 2000 block of Stoltz Hill Road, Lebanon, on Saturday and stole 32 cartons of cigarettes, valued at approximately $2,400.
Power outages - Further information was available this morning on two separate vehicles that crashed into power poles Saturday morning in the Albany area.
A 1994 Ford Mustang crashed into a power pole at 7:35 a.m. Saturday on Oakville Road near Easy Lane, according to a sheriff's office report. The driver, Alejandro Noya Cruz, 30, of Corvallis, was taken by medics to the Albany hospital. He had minor injuries.
There were no injuries reported in the second crash, which occurred at about 8:15 a.m. on Pacific Boulevard near 34th Avenue in Albany. Total, about 3,600 Pacific Power customers lost power.
Robbery - The sheriff's office responded at 9:49 p.m. Saturday to a report of a robbery at EZ Stop Market, 190 N. Third St., Harrisburg. According to a dispatch report, a man walked up to the store counter and demanded money. He took approximately $200 and a burrito.
Crash - Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash at 4:18 this morning in the 27000 block of Santiam Highway. The vehicle landed upside down in a ditch and the driver was taken to the Lebanon hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
LEBANON POLICE
Stolen laptop - Reported from the 2700 block of Elizabeth Place on Saturday: a laptop computer taken from a parked vehicle. Loss valued at $1,500.
Stolen vehicle - A man and woman were arrested Sunday in Lebanon after they were found driving a blue Toyota pickup that had been stolen in Springfield.
Lawrence Wilbur Dewitt, 48, and Jill Elizabeth Johnson, 28, were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Dewitt was also charged with possession of meth.
OREGON STATE POLICE
Arrest - Anthony Lamont Vaughn, 34, of Eugene was arrested Thursday after a trooper found him parked along Interstate 5 south of Halsey. Vaughn was taken to the Linn County Jail on the charge of possession of cocaine. He also had warrants from parole and probation in Georgia. A dog was taken to Linn County Animal Control and the car was towed.
BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF
Attempted elude - A deputy attempted to stop a 1995 GMC Jimmy at 2:20 a.m. Sunday on Highway 20 in North Albany. The driver, however, continued on for about a mile before stopping at First Avenue and Ellsworth Street in downtown Albany.
Halle Chontrell Larue-Miller, 32, of Corvallis was taken to the Benton County jail on charges of attempt to elude by vehicle and failure to carry and present a driver's license. She was cited at the jail and released. Albany police assisted.
