JEFFERSON - Details remain sketchy this morning concerning a bomb threat that occurred late Monday afternoon at the Sterling Bank in Jefferson.
The bank received the threat about 5:45 p.m., said Anne-Marie Penge, fire prevention specialist with the Jefferson Fire Department. She said she has heard several versions of what happened, and none match each other.
Penge said the bank at 113 S. Main St. was evacuated as was the community center and nearby homes and apartments.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office responded.
Information about the incident has yet to be provided by the bank and the sheriff's office.
