People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Arrest - Albany police officers arrested Valentin Vela Duran, 41, of Albany on Tuesday on charges of identity theft, fraudulent use of a credit card for less than $500 and second-degree theft by deception. Duran is accused of misusing a family member's ATM card. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
Counterfeit cash - A caller in the 2000 block of 14th Ave. S.E. contacted police Tuesday about a possible counterfeit bill. Police confiscated a fake $100 bill and two fake $20 bills.
Stolen vehicle - A silver Toyota Corolla was reported stolen Tuesday from the 1500 block of Waverly Drive S.E. No estimated value.
Found property - Police took for safekeeping a bank card found Tuesday evening in an ATM machine in the 1200 block of Waverly Drive S.E. The name on the card is being investigated.
Arrest - Officers arrested Shawnda Lynn Hall, 19, of Albany late Tuesday on charges of first-degree theft and outstanding warrants for failure to appear and contempt of court. Hall is accused of stealing from her workplace.
OREGON STATE POLICE
Wreck - One person was hospitalized after a one-vehicle rollover Tuesday morning on Interstate 5.
According to Oregon State Police, Kennith R. Newell, 35, of Springfield was headed north about 6 a.m., in the slow lane just south of Highway 34, when he hit ice and began to slide sideways into the fast lane. Newell's van struck the median and rolled into the southbound lanes. He was taken to Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
SWEET HOME POLICE
Yelling man - Police responded at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday to 18th Avenue and Long Street for a report of a man going into traffic and yelling that he was going to stab people. An officer spoke with the man, who had a pocket-knife, and warned him about disorderly conduct. The man left the area.
Stabbing report - Police received a call at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday about a man being stabbed in the 3200 block of Main Street. Officers learned that there had been a fight between two people and one of them received a puncture wound to the leg but it was unclear how that happened. No one wanted to pursue charges. One man was arrested on outstanding warrants from Albany Municipal Court.
