Marijuana plants - A former law enforcement officer called police saying he was concerned about the former tenants of a home in the 700 block of Witham Way in Harrisburg. He had been inside after they moved out and found food in children's bedrooms and the home very dirty. He also said the door knobs had been flipped so the locks were on the outside of the doors of the kids rooms. He also believed narcotics were being manufactured at the residence. Police visited the family at their new address and found the father in possession of 11 marijuana plants. He said he had paperwork showing he had applied for a medical marijuana card. Police let him pick six plants (the limit) and seized the rest. The investigation continues.
Dog bite - A mother called police saying her son, 14, was bit by a neighbor's dog Wednesday morning in the area of 3800 Highway 226 in Scio. The dog owner was contacted and will quarantine the 6-year-old German shepherd for 10 days.

Grave markers - A resident of a home in the 2300 block of Porter Street came across two marble grave markers in his yard - one marked "TJD" and the other "Thomas J." He had been living in the home for about two years. He found the 2.6-foot by 18-inch slabs buried in a flower bed. They looked as if they were being used to edge the bed. Local cemeteries were contacted but none had markers like these missing. The markers are being lodged as found property and will be returned to the finder or destroyed if nobody claims them.
Livestock killed - An unknown dog appears to have killed several sheep and goats from a property on 39600 Baptist Church Drive. The owner reported the incident Wednesday evening. The information was forwarded to Linn County Dog Control.
