The members of the Bahá'í Faith of Linn and Benton counties, along with family and friends, will observe Náw-Rúz, the Bahá'í New Year, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stonybrook Community Center in Corvallis.
Náw-Rúz, which is Persian for New Day, begins the Bahá'í calendar and ends a 19-day period of fasting. The Bahá'í calendar of 19 months and 19 days is based on the solar year, with the first day of spring, the vernal equinox, as its starting point.
More information about the Bahá'í Faith, its calendar and its teachings is available at www.bahai.us.
