ALBANY POLICE

Graffiti - A 17-year-old boy was charged with second-degree criminal mischief Thursday after green spray paint was found on an outside wall at Lafayette Elementary School, 3122 Madison St. S.E. An officer was talking with people at the boy's home in the 700 block of 32nd Avenue S.E. when the teenager came home with green paint on him.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Theft - A utility trailer and a black 2007 Baja go cart were reported stolen Thursday from the 34000 block of Riverside Drive. Total value: $2,273.

LEBANON POLICE

No shooting - Police received a call around around 3:50 p.m. Thursday about a young boy shooting an airsoft gun at squirrels and ducks near the 600 block of E. Isabella Street. An officer spoke with three kids and told them they were not to be shooting BB or airsoft guns. The kids went home.

Arrest - Jeffrey Curtis Casper, 53, of Lebanon turned himself in at the police station Thursday on an outstanding warrant from Texas for possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Linn County Jail.

SWEET HOME POLICE

Box car run - An officer on patrol Thursday spotted two 21-year-old men running on top of box cars on railroad tracks in town. The men were charged with first-degree criminal trespass.

Arrest - Craig Bruce Adams, 30, of Sweet Home was arrested Thursday for first-degree theft by receiving. The charge is related to a burglary that occurred earlier this month, according to police. Adams was lodged in the Linn County Jail.

TANGENT FIRE

Investigation continues - The fire that burned a stack of wooden pallets Thursday morning outside Barenbrug seed company in Tangent remains under investigation by the Linn Benton Fire Investigation Task Force. The fire, which is similar to two other blazes last summer in Tangent, is being investigated as an arson. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oregon State Police arson tip line at 1-800-452-7888.

SCAM WARNING

Phone call - An Albany family recently contacted the Democrat-Herald after getting a number of phone calls from scammers pretending to be making a "courtesy call" from a bank and asking for personal information such as a home address and a partial social security number. When the family called the phone number back, it went to a voice message. The family's bank said employees would not make unsolicited calls requesting personal information.
