Biplane rides and trolley tours are special features at the 2009 Northwest Art & Air Festival, which runs Friday, Aug. 28, through Sunday, Aug. 30, in Albany.
Albany pilot Mike Carpentiero will give rides in his 1929 New Standard D25 biplane at Albany Municipal Airport, starting around 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Preregistration is not required, and cost per passenger is $65.
The Sunday trolley tours and a free root beer float and ice cream social at Timber-Linn Memorial Park are sponsored by Brookdale Senior Living.
The trolley will depart from the park at 9:45 a.m. to visit attractions in the historic downtown area and return for lunch, floats and ice cream. Preregistration is required; contact the Albany Senior Center at (541) 917-7760.
