Albany police

Criminal mischief - Police officers responding to a report of a broken window late Friday in the 2400 block of Queen Avenue Southeast saw "multiple subjects" running west near 21st Avenue.

According to a police report, the officers caught up with a group and counseled three of them, who were under 18, about the curfew law. Mathew Scott Tuomi, 21, and Jacob Lee Herndon, 24, both of Albany, were taken into custody on charges of first-degree criminal mischief. They were cited to appear May 6 in Linn County Circuit Court.

Linn County Sheriff

Burglary - A safe and jewelry box containing items worth approximately $20,000 were reported stolen Friday from a home in the 35900 block of Plagmann Drive.

Burglary - Chain saws, a post hole digger, a tiller, a small trailer and a boat were reported stolen Friday from property in the 49000 block of Santiam Highway. No listed value.

Injury accident - Two people were taken by ambulance Saturday evening to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis following a crash involving a motorcycle that happened about 6 p.m. on Riverside Drive near Albany. The Linn County Sheriff's Office was still investigating Saturday evening. No other details were immediately available.

Sweet Home police

Arrest - Sweet Home officers arrested David Allen Sweet, 40, of Sweet Home on Friday and charged him with felony fourth-degree assault. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail.

Oregon State Police

Fire at OSU: A trooper saw a fire at the loading dock of the Oregon State University Bookstore at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning. The sprinkler system had activated and the trooper used three different fire extinguishers on the flames, but the fire kept reigniting. The fire, which was contained to cardboard containers set out for recycling, was finally extinguished after the Corvallis Fire Department arrived. The cause was unknown.
