Clinical family therapist to speak

Jackie Tasker, a clinical family therapist, will be the guest speaker at an event sponsored by Mid Valley Adoptive Families and the Benton County Family Support Group from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 435 N.W. 21st St.

Tasker has therapeutic expertise and experience in attachment, bonding, trauma, grief and loss. She works with families and adoptees of all ages, as well as children who are not adopted and with children who have behavior issues.

Opera guild to preview 'Fidelio'

The Linn-Benton Opera Guild will preview the opera "Fidelio," by Ludwig van Beethoven, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at 303 Benton Hall, Oregon State University.

OSU music professor Angela Carlson will tell the story of the opera and play recorded excerpts from the score. Admission is free to Linn-Benton Opera Guild members, students of Linn-Benton Community College and OSU. Cost for the general public is $4.

Performance dates will be Nov. 7, 9, 13 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Keller Auditorium, 222 S.W. Clay, Portland. The opera will be sung in German with projected English translations.

Linn-Benton Community College and the Linn-Benton Opera Guild will host a bus ride to the closing performance on Saturday, Nov. 15, for those interested. Round-trip tickets are $23 per person. Cost for opera tickets is not included, and seating reservations are required.

Legion seeks vendors for holiday bazaar

American Legion Santiam Unit 51 seeks vendors for its holiday bazaar, set for Nov. 21-22 at the American Legion Hall, 480 Main St., Lebanon. Cost is $10 to rent a table. Contact Jean at 451-2579.

Lions Club collecting coats, gloves for kids

The Lebanon Lions Club is collecting coats, gloves, hats and scarves to give to children at the Holidays in the Park event on Dec. 6 at Ralston Park.

The club is accepting donations of new or gently used coats of all sizes, as well as pairs of gloves and mittens. It has a good supply of scarves and stocking caps, but more are welcome.

Items may be dropped off at the Boys & Girls Club of Lebanon, 350 S. Fifth St., or the Lebanon Area Chamber of Commerce Office, 1040 Park St.
