The Linn Library League will hold a discussion Friday, Jan. 12, on a proposed county-wide library district and how it would affect Linn residents.
Hosted by Friends of the Albany Public Library, the meeting will be at noon at the main branch of the Albany Public Library, 1390 Waverly Drive S.E.
Speakers Linda Ziedrich and May Garland will give a presentation showing the current library situation in Linn County, describing the work of the Linn Library League and explaining elements of the proposed district plan. Information on library funding, hours and staffing will be a part of their presentation.
Garland is the former chairwoman of Linn-Benton Community College's department of Education/Child & Family Studies. She is a member of the Linn Library League and serves on the Scio Library Board and Scio City Council.
Following the presentations, Ziedrich and Garland will lead a discussion about the ways in which library patrons would be affected by a district. Questions are encouraged.
Ziedrich is a freelance editor specializing in cookbooks and parenting books. She has been an active member of the Friends of the Scio Public Library for about 13 years.
