Nicholsto play at fair in July

Five musical acts have been announced for July 16-19 at the 2009 Linn County Fair.

Joe Nichols, who is known for songs like "Brokenheartsville," "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off," "She Only Smokes When She Drinks" and "Cool to Be a Fool," will kick things off at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The show will be held in cooperation with River Rhythms.

On Friday, there will be two shows. Western Underground takes the stage at 8:15 p.m. and former American Idol contestant Bucky Covington will follow at 9:30.

Western Underground will perform hits from the band's founder, the late Chris LeDoux, as well as some new songs.

Covington, who was on the fifth season of Fox's Idol, has hits that inlude "A Different World," "It's Good to be Us" and "I'll Walk."

Saturday night, classic rock band Night Ranger will play.

The group had hits with "Sister Christian," "Don't Tell Me You Love Me," "When You Close Your Eyes" and "You Can Still Rock in America."

Hawk Nelson, a Christian rock group, will close out the fair at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The band became widely known when its song "Bring 'Em Out" was featured in the 1995 movie "Yours, Mine and Ours."
