A large jar of money, a collection for the Albany carousel project, was taken from the Albany Visitor's Association sometime Sunday.
Jimmie Lucht of the Albany Visitors Association estimated there was between $200 and $300 in the jar. The collection had been going on for about eight months.
Usually, the jar is put behind the counter at night, Lucht said, but this time it was left out.
Someone was working in the office until Sunday afternoon, and employees noticed the jar was missing when they came to work Monday morning.
Lucht believes the jar was taken sometime late Sunday afternoon or evening.
The Visitors Association is located in Two Rivers Market downtown. The walls on the inside of the building do not reach the ceiling.
Lucht believes the person or people who took the jar climbed over the wall to enter the office. Nothing else was taken from the office.
A report was filed with the Albany Police Department.
