People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Motorcycle vs. tractor - Deputies and medics responded at 4:50 p.m. Monday to a crash involving a motorcycle and a tractor on Scravel Hill Road near Knox Butte Road east of Albany.
According to the sheriff's office, Dana Alan Johnston, 49, of Jefferson was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on Scravel Hill and attempting to pass three farming tractors, also headed south. The motorcycle collided with the back of the lead tractor when it moved across the road to park.
Johnston was thrown from the motorcycle and went under one of the wheels of the hay rake, according to the sheriff's office.
He was taken by helicopter from the Linn County Fair & Expo Center to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. He was later transferred to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital, where he was in serious condition this morning.
The operator of the tractor, John Seldon Comstock, 59, of Gervais, was not injured.
Crash - A log truck overturned on Lacomb Drive just after 9 a.m. Monday after colliding with a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban.
According to the sheriff's office, the Suburban, driven by Karen Sue Parker, 56, of Scio, was turning onto Lacomb Drive from Kowitz Road when it collided with the log truck and rolled onto its top. The truck driver, Jeremy Lee Miller, 33, of Lebanon, tried to go around the Suburban but couldn't avoid the collision.
Miller was initially trapped inside the cab and had to be cut out by emergency workers. He was taken to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Medics took Parker to the Corvallis hospital, where she was in stable condition this morning.
Traffic was rerouted while Lacomb Drive was closed for about three hours. Albany and Lebanon police officers with the Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team assisted at the scene.
Evacuation - The Linn County Courthouse was evacuated for about an hour Monday afternoon when someone called in a bomb threat.
The call was made to the courthouse and claimed there were several bombs in and around the building. Deputies searched the courthouse but didn't find any bombs or other suspicious items.
It's unknown who made the call. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 967-3950.
Thefts - Deputies took reports Sunday morning of items stolen from outside homes in the 31000 block of First Street in Waterloo. The items included a Specialized Hard Rock mountain bicycle, red Giant Boulder mountain bike, Anza Ridgeway bicycle, and about $600 worth of fishing equipment and hand tools.
