LEBANON - The Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation has announced recipients for two medical scholarships.
Courtney Schmidig, a nursing student at Oregon Health & Science University, has been named the 2009 Easton Scholar. She will receive $1,000 toward her sophomore year of study.
Schmidig is a freshman working toward her Bachelor of Science in nursing at OHSU through Eastern Oregon University. She is the daughter of Margie and Robert Schmidig of Scio.
Ross Wopat of Lebanon, a student at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, has been named the 2009 Girod Scholar.
Wopat will receive $8,000 toward his second year of study, which will begin this fall. He is the son of Ellen and Rick Wopat, M.D., a longtime physician with Samaritan Health Services.
