LEBANON - The Lebanon downtown revitalization group, Partners for Progress, is planning "Community Pride Weekend" next month.

The group also has scheduled a community meeting to explain its mission, goals, objectives and accomplishments to date.

Billed as a gathering for all residents but especially downtown businesses, the meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. May 2 at the American Legion Hall. Speakers will cover topics such as downtown safety, business education, business recruitment, upcoming events, upcoming preservation projects and more.

Community Pride Weekend is set for May 17-18. Partners for Progress has secured more than a dozen power washers and a truck equipped with them to work on downtown sidewalks. Volunteers are needed to help with washing, weeding and planting.

Schedules are available at the Community Pride headquarters, located at Quality Llama Products, corner of Sherman and Park streets. The group will provide food and drinks for volunteers.

"Tell us how you would like to help and we will send you in the right direction," organizer Peter Richard said. "This is a great time to get the community out and about to help clean up and beautify the downtown. We will be running all-day Saturday and Sunday and could use all the help we can get."
