ALBANY POLICE

Car break-in - A Honda Civic parked in the 3900 block of Linn Avenue S.E. was broken into early Monday morning. Stolen items included the car stereo, CD player, DVD player and a Northface backpack with school supplies.

Stolen newspaper rack - A Democrat-Herald newspaper rack was reported stolen Monday from the 2100 block of Pacific Boulevard S.E. Value: $1,200.

Burglary, arrest - A woman called police Monday, saying she had returned home after five days and found her residence had been broken into. A TV and jewelry were among the items that had been stolen. While investigating the burglary, officers learned the victim had an unrelated warrant for probation violation and took her to the Linn County Jail.

Lebanon fire

House fire - Firefighters extinguished a house fire at 305 Mary St. around 9 a.m. Monday after a caller reported seeing smoke coming from the home's attic. The house was unoccupied and no injuries were reported. Investigators did not confirm the cause of the fire but said it could have been started from too many cords plugged together, according to a police report. The homeowner told police the house will be demolished.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Coin theft - Collectable coins worth about $1,000 were reported stolen Monday from property in the 38000 block of Vine Street in Sodaville.

OREGON STATE POLICE

Crash - Troopers responded at 12:53 a.m. Sunday to a hit-and-run collision in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Linn West Road. Troopers contacted both drivers and arrested Ashley Annette Chase, 25, of Sweet Home on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to perform the duties of a driver involved in an accident with injuries, fourth-degree assault and reckless driving.

Chase had been driving a 2003 Kia and the other driver, Natalia Luis Juan Rodri, 27, of Federal Way, Wash., was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition.
