ADAIR VILLAGE - Santiam Christian High School will hold a commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. May 30 in the school gym, 7220 N.E. Arnold Ave. Admission is by ticket only. A baccalaureate ceremony is planned at 3 p.m. the prior Sunday, May 24, at Calvary Chapel of Corvallis, 2124 N.W. Lester St.
The class of 71 graduating seniors has one valedictorian and one salutatorian.
Valedictorian Sean Wilson, son of Christopher and Michelle Wilson of Corvallis, will graduate with a 4.0 GPA. He plans to attend Emory University to major in physics and minor in Spanish.
During high school, he was involved with student government and National Honor Society; played soccer; earned the Prudential Spirit of Community Bronze Award, an American Legion Oregon Boys State Diploma and a Certificate of Spanish Intensive Program; volunteered at Acorn Center; and was named an Outstanding Spanish (I, II and III) student and ACSI Distinguished Christian High School Student in Academics and Leadership.
Salutatorian Lauren Schaffner, daughter of Brad and Jeanne Schaffner of Albany, also will graduate with a 4.0 GPA. She plans to attend Georgetown University and pursue dual degrees in government with a concentration in international relations and theater.
In high school she played varsity soccer all four years, participated in student government and National Honor Society, was involved in six drama productions, volunteered for Show Mercy International, and went overseas on three humanitarian aid trips.
