Albany man thankful for stranger's gesture

Stanley Montank of Albany wants to offer a thank you to the woman who turned in his lost check to pay for a dentist bill.

Montank doesn't know who the woman is and called the Democrat-Herald to share his appreciation.

Montank gave this story:

He went to the dentist on Tuesday and the next day he got a check from the bank to pay the bill.

After putting the check in his pocket, he went to the Albany Public Library to read newspapers and then to the Dollar Tree. At the store, Montank took a handkerchief out of his pocket and the check fell out and went missing.

A woman found the check and hand-delivered it to the dentist office, where employees called Montank's nephew and said the lost check had been turned in and he could stop looking for it.
