Nearly two months after the event, the Hillary Clinton for President campaign has yet to pay the Linn County Fair & Expo Center for the use of the space during Bill Clinton's April 26 campaign stop, the center's management said.
During the Linn County Fair & Expo monthly financial report to commissioners Tuesday it was noted that the Clinton campaign has an overdue bill for its use of the facility.
"Typically we ask for a deposit, but this came together so quickly," said Jan Taylor, marketing manager for the fair and expo.
She said the campaign did sign a contract to pay for the $1,666 rental in 30 days and also provided proof of insurance.
She said two invoices have been sent to Clinton's campaign headquarters in Arlington, Va. The first was sent the Monday following the event, April 28, and the second on May 28.
Taylor said it is typical to allow customers 30 days to pay their bill. It has been 53 days since Bill Clinton spoke in Albany.
A call and an e-mail to the Clinton campaign were not returned by deadline.
Clinton's former rival, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, spoke at the expo center May 9.
Taylor said his campaign, Barack Obama for President, paid up front.
