People arrested are innocent unless proved otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Theft arrest - Police arrested a man Sunday evening after he turned himself in for a theft that occurred May 23 at AJ's Haus, a video poker parlor at 1123 Santiam Road S.E., Police Capt. Eric Carter said.
At the time, police said that a man playing video poker grabbed cash an employee was handling and fled.
On Sunday, Anthony Louis Cimino, 29, of Albany turned himself in at the police station. He was charged with second-degree theft, booked at the Linn County Jail and released.
Carter said the theft is not related to an armed robbery that occurred April 6 at AJ's Haus. The robbery remains under investigation.
Fire hydrant hit - On Sunday afternoon, a semi-truck making a turn from Waverly Drive onto 14th Avenue S.E. struck a fire hydrant on the sidewalk. Water was pumping out of the hydrant when officers arrived. The water was turned off so the fire department could assess the damage, and an Oregon State Police trooper inspected the truck. No citations were issued.
Wire theft - Police took a report Friday from a business in the 1200 block of Shortridge Street S.E., where someone reportedly stole all the wire from an outdoor air conditioning system. The loss was valued at $1,000.
Theft - An Alienware laptop and Motorola cell phone were reported stolen Saturday from the 2500 block of Wheeler Street S.E. Estimated loss: $3,500.
Arrest - Miguel Angel Sanchez-Bautista, 18, was arrested Friday for sexual abuse and related charges. He was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
The alleged victim is an 11-year-old girl that Sanchez-Bautista knew, according to police.
LINN COUNTY SHERIFF
Boating accident update - Gary Gene Hill, 51, remained in critical condition this morning at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland after a boating accident Saturday near Foster Dam.
According to the sheriff's office, Hill was on the boat with his wife when he lost his balance and fell into the water. Hill's wife threw him a life vest and marine deputies on the other side of the reservoir responded within minutes to help get him back on the boat. He was taken to the Lebanon hospital and later transferred to OHSU.
The sheriff's office did not have information this morning on where Hill is from.
Rollover crash - Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash about 1 a.m. today on Powerline Road near Diamond Hill.
According to the sheriff's office, here's what happened:
Sarah Wright, 28, was driving a 2000 Nissan Frontier when an animal of some kind ran out in front of her. Wright lost control of the vehicle, went into a ditch and the vehicle began to roll. One of the passengers, Joseph Baker, 44, was thrown from the vehicle and it rolled over him.
The second passenger, Tina Carney was injured and ran from the scene. She has outstanding felony warrants.
Both Wright and Baker were taken to the Albany hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation continues.
Motorcycle crash - James Culbertson, 46, of Albany was injured when the 2006 Honda motorcycle he was riding went off the road, according to the sheriff's office.
The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday on Spicer Road near Goltra Road. Culbertson was taken to the Albany hospital and later transferred to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland. He was in serious condition this morning in the intensive care unit.
According to the sheriff's office, he was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Blasting cap - A man called the sheriff' office at 7:30 this morning to say he had purchased a tackle box at a garage sale during the weekend and this morning found a blasting cap inside. An Oregon State Police bomb squad responded to collect the blasting cap, which was at a residence on Airport Road in Lebanon.
ATV crash - Deputies and Sweet Home medics responded to a call about an ATV crash at 5 p.m. Saturday about three miles above Whitcomb Creek.
Lucas Victor, 26, was injured and taken to the Lebanon hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
LEBANON POLICE
Golf cart stolen - A golf cart worth approximately $1,500 was reported stolen Friday from the 3600 block of S. Santiam Highway.
ALBANY FIRE
Barn burn - Albany firefighters extinguished a blaze Saturday evening at 35934 Kennel Road. The sheriff's office also responded.
According to officials, an old barn on the property had been demolished and the owner burned it without proper permits. The fire caused minor smoke and heat damage to a nearby structure, and caused a powerline to fall.
Deputies cited Shannon Grissom, 38, of Albany for recklessly endangering.
