People arrested are innocent unless proved otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
ALBANY POLICE
Fake license - Police on Sunday responded to a domestic disturbance and discovered that a man had a fake driver's license.
According to police, the man had allegedly gotten a license using a fictitious name in 1999 to avoid being arrested on outstanding warrants. The man previously had a valid license.
Enrique Maza-Meraz, 36, of Albany was charged with identity theft, possession of fictitious identification, false application for license and related charges. He also had an outstanding warrant for contempt of court. He was taken to the Linn County Jail.
Linn County Sheriff
Rollover - A driver headed east on Lacomb Drive at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday tried to swat a bee inside the cab of his Ford Ranger pickup, lost control and rolled the vehicle into a ditch.
According to the sheriff's office, Orion Paholsky, 17, of Lebanon had to be extricated and was taken to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital with minor injuries. No citations were filed.
Two arrested - Deputies arrested two people Friday in Lyons after trying to catch a wanted man they thought had taken refuge in the couple's trailer.
First Sgt. Art Sprague gave this account:
The deputies were following a man wanted on several warrants at about 6:30 p.m. Friday when they thought they saw him enter a camp trailer at John Neil Park in Lyons.
The deputies knocked on the trailer door but the woman inside would not let them in. They forced the door open and found a different man, also wanted on warrants, hiding under a bed in a secret compartment of the trailer.
Arrested were Bradley Robert Bender, 21, and Christine Marie Harbin, 36, both of Stayton.
Both had been wanted for questioning in an earlier case involving stolen property, including a firearm. On Friday, Sprague said, both were charged with first-degree theft by receiving, felon in possession of a firearm and hindering prosecution. Harbin also was charged with giving false information to police.
They were lodged in the Linn County Jail.
Fencing stolen - A caller reported Sunday that fencing was stolen from along Highway 228. The metal was valued at $1,500. A bull calf was missing from the field but later found, according to a dispatch log.
Arrest - Richard Alan Banks, 54, of Lebanon was arrested Friday on numerous outstanding warrants for possession of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine. He was released and cited to appear May 30 in Linn County Circuit Court.
Arrest - Danny Dean Mink, 46, of Sweet Home was arrested Saturday on outstanding warrants for possession and delivery of methamphetamine. He was lodged in Linn County Jail.
Stolen vehicle - A tan Ford Bronco was reported stolen from the 200 block of Seventh Street, Lyons, at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. No listed value.
LEBANON POLICE
Theft - Tires and wheels from a pickup truck were reported stolen Friday from the 1400 block of South Second Street. No listed value.
Patrol car damaged - Lebanon officers were at a call Friday in the 400 block of Harrison Street when an unattended Acura Integra rolled out of a driveway and struck a patrol car.
According to a police log report, the parking brake on the vehicle had not been set. Damage was minimal and no one was injured.
BB damage - A caller reported Saturday that a vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Filbert Street had been shot at with three BBs. The windshield was damaged.
Burglary - Items, including two TVs and a Dell desktop computer, were reported stolen Saturday from a house in the 1000 block of Charlie Avenue.
Disturbance - Officers responded at 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a fight in the 70 block of East Sherman Street. Police used a Taser on a man. Then they arrested him and a second man for disorderly conduct, according to a police log.
Reported assault - Police are investigating a report that a man assaulted a woman at her home after she refused to let him in to use the bathroom Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the woman didn't know the man. He came to her home in the 400 block of South Main Street, wanting to use the bathroom. When the woman said no, the man assaulted her. Police said the woman sustained injuries but they were not serious. She went to the Lebanon hospital.
The man, who took off running from the residence, was described as white, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11, and 200 pounds. He had a mustache and was wearing a dark colored baseball cap. Anyone with information on the incident can call Lebanon police at 451-1751.
SWEET HOME POLICE
Requested arrest - A man came into the Sweet Home Police Department at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday and threw a 40-ounce beer at the lobby wall, leaving a hole in the wall, according to police.
The man then told dispatch that he wanted to be arrested. The man had no outstanding warrants but was charged in connection with the lobby outburst. He was taken to the Linn County Jail.
BENTON COUNTY SHERIFF
Driver arrested - At about 2:10 a.m. Saturday, a deputy stopped a driver for traveling 45 mph in a 25 mph zone on Highway 34 near Corvallis. The driver told the deputy he didn't have a license and was suspended. The man was issued a citation and told not to drive or he would be arrested.
The deputy then watched as the man proceeded to drive off and the deputy pulled him over a second time. The man said he was trying to get to his daughter's house because she was drunk. The man was arrested for driving while suspended and taken to the Benton County jail, where he was booked and released.
LEBANON FIRE
Brush fire - Wind caught flames from a burn pile at 32078 Berlin Road and spread to nearby blackberry bushes at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Lebanon firefighters put out the fire and sprayed protective foam around a nearby barn. No monetary damage.
