Albany Police

Mourning M.J. - A Draper Park bench in the 700 block of 29th Street S.E. was vandalized with a marker pen this week. Among the messages: "I love Thriller!"

More graffiti - Graffiti was discovered on the back side of the former Joe's Sports and Outdoor store in the 2000 block of 14th Avenue S.E. early this morning. It was photographed and will be removed.

Linn County Sheriff

Inner tube vs. boat - An Independence woman suffered minor injuries when the inner tube she was being towed on collided with a fishing boat at about 1 p.m. Wednesday on Foster Lake. Deputies deemed the driver of the boat towing the inner tube at fault, but no citations were issued. The incident is under investigation.

Boy burglar - A woman working late Wednesday night called 911 saying a boy just came in through a Harrisburg Public Library window, walked over to a desk, and took some change out of a drawer. She asked him what he was doing and he said, "getting some change." She told him to stay put while she called police and he ran, leaving the change behind. The woman has a description of the boy, who appears to be about 15, and police are on the lookout.

Harrisburg stabbing - A resident called deputies just after 2 a.m. today from the 700 block of Erica Way in Harrisburg saying his neighbor had been stabbed. The victim had injuries to his face and an arm but refused medical treatment. Both the victim and the alleged attacker are from Junction City. Deputies say those involved are not providing much information. The investigation continues.
