Candidates to speak at Albany forum

Event will include those vying for office on the local and state levels

A public forum is planned in Albany for state legislators, local elected officials, and legislative and area office seekers as part of the statewide City Hall Week.

The forum sponsored by the League of Oregon Cities is from

9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 15 in the council chambers at Albany City Hall, 333 Broadalbin St. S.W.

City Manager Wes Hare will serve as moderator.

City officials will talk about specific areas of concerns and ask incumbents and candidates about issues important to all Oregon cities, such as transportation funding, infrastructure recapitalization and ethics reform. Albany officials will also talk about the need for better services for the mentally ill.

Those planning to attend include State Sen. Frank Morse; State Rep. Andy Olson and his challenger, Dick Olsen; State Rep. Sara Gelser; Adair Village Mayor Bill Currier and Councilor Charline King; Albany Mayor Dan Bedore and challenger Sharon Konopa; Corvallis Mayor Charles Tomlinson; Albany City Council candidates Bill Root and Frank Frenzel; and Millersburg City Administrator Barbara Castillo.
