Car mishap - Police responded Tuesday afternoon to the area of Sixth Avenue and Jackson Street S.E. after getting a call about a man stealing a car with a baby inside.
After a brief investigation, police gave this account: The man had asked a woman he knew if he could borrow her car. She said yes but that she had to get her baby out of the backseat. The man apparently didn't hear what she said about the baby and took off in the car. When the man realized the baby was inside, he drove around the block and returned to the residence. In the meantime, the family had called 911.
Police arrested the man who drove off in the car for driving while suspended, driving under the influence of intoxicants and recklessly endangering.
