Albany Police

Mailbox explosions - Three mailboxes in North Albany were blown up Saturday night or Sunday. Police said the explosive devices were made of plastic bottles and gunpowder. The only damage was to the mailboxes, two of which were on Nebergall Loop (the third was on West Thornton Lake Drive). There are no suspects.

Burglary - A home in the 2300 block of Salem Avenue S.E. was broken into sometime during the holiday weekend. A Dell computer, more than 100 DVDs and a Pioneer CD stereo were among the items stolen.

Fireworks fire - Police and firefighters responded about 3:10 a.m. Sunday to a report of a house fire. It turned out that illegal fireworks had burned part of a wood fence and arborvitae in the 3300 block of Lyon Street S.E. A 32-year-old man was cited for reckless burning.

Unwelcome man - A woman awoke around 3:40 a.m. Sunday to find an unknown man in her bedroom. The woman screamed and went to a nearby apartment in the 800 block of 18th Avenue S.E. The man was gone by the time police arrived. The police report wasn't completed this morning so no other details were available.

Arrest - Loni Marie McArthur, 26, and Sean Sorel McArthur, 51, both of Albany, were arrested Saturday on charges of unlawful manufacture of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana. Sean McArthur was also charged with menacing. Both were lodged in the Linn County Jail.

Linn County Sheriff

Small fire - The Oregon Department of Forestry called for a sheriff's deputy to respond Saturday afternoon to a suspicious forest fire in the Swamp Mountain area south of Cascadia. The deputy spoke with several people in the area and noted some illegal fireworks that had been lit. The fire burned less than an acre. The investigation continues.

Burglary - A shop in the 40000 block of Providence Drive was broken into Friday. The owner reported $3,000 to $5,000 in shop equipment and tools missing.

Lebanon Police

Arrest - Angela Marie Ricker, 27, no residence listed, was arrested Thursday on an outstanding Benton County Circuit Court warrant for unlawful delivery of methamphetamine.

Break-in - Police responded at 9 a.m. Thursday to a report of a break-in at a motorhome parked in the 3000 block of Snow Peak Place. The motorhome was ransacked but nothing appeared to have been taken.

Assault - A man called police for help about 1:45 a.m. Friday, saying he'd been "jumped" and someone had attempted to stab him with a knife. The man said he didn't need medics. Officers are investigating.

Vandalism - Approximately $100 worth of spray-paint damage was reported Friday to bathrooms and the underside of a bridge at River Park, 1301 E. Grant St., and to the nearby Center Market. Police are investigating.

Fireworks - A Lebanon resident flagged down a police officer about 3 p.m. Friday to report people in a red Dodge Durango throwing "Black Cat" fireworks out the window near 1983 Main St. Officers found the vehicle and spoke to the occupants, who admitted throwing firecrackers. The items were confiscated.

Sweet Home Fire

Dock damage - Firefighters received a call at 7:15 a.m. Saturday about a boat dock smoldering at Gedney Creek boat ramp on the back side of Foster Reservoir. Battalion Chief Doug Emmert said a man launching his boat discovered the smoking dock. Firefighters doused the dock and found "a lot of evidence" of fireworks in the area, apparently legal ones, Emmert said. An estimated damage value was not available.
