Here is a rundown of Fourth of July events in the mid-valley.
ADAIR VILLAGE
Fourth of July parade
Adair Village will have a Fourth of July parade this year with the assistance of the Civil Air Patrol.
The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the north end of Barberry Drive. It will run the length of Barberry and William R. Carr Street, and turn east on Arnold Avenue. It will end at Santiam Christian Schools.
Three Civil Air Patrol units will participate in the parade and assist with its operations: the Salem Composite Squadron, the Camp Adair Flight and the Linn-Benton Composite Squadron.
Families, organizations and members of the public are invited to participate. Call Kim Gardner at 745-5137 to sign up.
ALBANY
Albany Timber Carnival
The reconstituted Albany Timber Carnival gets under way Friday for the first time since 2000. Men and women are returning to compete in log rolling, wood chopping, cross-cut sawing and a chain saw and hot saw racing contest.
There will be other entertainment during the free two-day event, including country and rock bands, a dunk tank, a car show, a softball tournament, chain saw carving and a family fun zone.
Fireworks will be shot off both days, starting at 10:05 p.m.
The "Blast from the Past: A Community Event" is at Timber-Linn Memorial Park. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Parking is $4.
Celebrate Freedom
The Albany First Assembly of God will host its music, drama and fireworks show, "Celebrate Freedom," at Monteith Riverpark on Friday.
Youth from the church will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, strawberry shortcake and beverages beginning at 6 p.m. The funds will go toward missions. Activities for children will also begin at 6 p.m.
The musical and drama program starts at 8 p.m., and will feature the church's choir, orchestra and drama members. The music includes patriotic and Americana songs celebrating the country's independence. This year's medley will be "Song of the Past."
A fireworks display will start as soon as it's dark enough.
Lumberjack Breakfast
The East Albany Lions Club annual Lumberjack Breakfast will take place Thursday through Sunday at Eleanor-Hackleman Park, 654 Pine St. S.E.
The breakfast, which is served from 6 to 11 a.m., features all-you-can-eat sausage, eggs, pancakes, milk and coffee.
The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 11 and under. All proceeds go to Lions Sight & Hearing and local charities.
Stars and Stripes Best-ball
The Golf Club of Oregon will host Stars and Stripes Best-ball, an 18-hole golf tournament, Friday through Sunday.
Each two-person team will play one 18-hole round anytime over the three days. Players may play more than one time and with more than one partner.
A free warm-up bucket of range balls will be provided for each player. There will be prizes for the five lowest-scoring teams.
The entry fee is $10, plus the regular green fee. Players must play with another tournament team. Call 928-8338 if you need help finding another pair.
BROWNSVILLE
Big Bang
First up is a pancake breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m. in Pioneer Park. The Brownsville Rural Fire Department will flip the cakes, and there will also be eggs, ham and hot coffee. All proceeds will benefit the fireworks fund.
After breakfast, people can stake out their fireworks-viewing spot and then stay and play in the park, which is bordered by the Calapooia River.
Throughout the day the Calapooia Croquet Club will have areas set up for regulation croquet, and a potluck in the park.
At 8:30 p.m., kids under the age of 12 will be able to get a free ice cream cone. For adults and older children, cones cost $1.
Once the sun sets, it's time for the Fourth of July Big Bang fireworks show. Fire department volunteers request a $5 donation for cars. There will be a firefighter's boot for donations as well.

CORVALLIS
Fourth of July Parade
The All-American Everyone-Can-Join Fabulous Fantastic Fourth of July Parade will be at 10 a.m. Friday. The parade begins at Eighth Street and Monroe Avenue, near Central Park. People will start organizing at 9 a.m.
Everyone is welcome to walk in the parade. The procession will travel up Monroe to First Street, then head south on First to Adams Avenue, crossing one block west to Second Street. The parade will move south on Second and end at the skatepark. Streets along the parade route, including Highway 99, will be blocked off to traffic. The parade is expected to last 45 minutes.

Jaycees fireworks
The Corvallis Jaycees will host the 32nd annual Independence Day aerial fireworks display, which starts around 10 p.m. Friday. The fireworks will be shot off from the Oregon State University crew docks on the Willamette River, and best viewing will be along First Street in downtown Corvallis.
Red, White and Blues Riverfront Festival
The Red, White and Blues Riverfront Festival will run from 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at the riverfront in downtown Corvallis.
This celebration is sponsored by the Downtown Corvallis Association and features blues performers, local food and beverage vendors, area artisans and family-oriented activities, including the annual parade and Jaycees fireworks display.
The event costs $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the festival.

Republican Party breakfast
The Benton County Republican Party will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Republican Headquarters, 980 N.W. Circle Blvd., Corvallis.
Breakfast will include pancakes with strawberries, blueberries, maple syrup and whipped topping; ham and eggs; coffee, tea and orange juice.
The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12, and free for kids under 3.
LEBANON
Star-Spangled Celebration
The Weyerhaeuser Star-Spangled Celebration will run from noon to 11 p.m. Friday at Cheadle Lake Park, east of Lebanon off Weirich Drive and Highway 20.
The schedule of events is:
• Noon to 3 p.m. - adult karaoke.
• Noon to 10 p.m. - games, food and drinks. Games include sack races, egg relays, water relays, three-legged races, climbing wall and miniature golf. There will also be jugglers, magicians and belly dancers.
• 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. - karaoke contest finals.
• 8 to 9:30 p.m. - Patriotic Pops Concert. Performed by Willamette Valley Concert Band.
• 10 p.m. - "Fire In The Sky" fireworks show.
The cost is $8 per car.
HARRISBURG
Old-Fashioned Fourth of July
The Harrisburg Old-Fashioned Fourth of July will run from 6 a.m. to dusk Friday at Riverfront Park.
The event includes a firefighter breakfast, flag-raising ceremony, car show, live music, chicken barbecue and activities for kids. The parade, with the theme "Stars and Stripes" will start at 11 a.m. at Seventh and Smith streets. It goes down Third Street and ends at Sixth and LaSalle streets. The day concludes with fireworks at dusk.
Dogs are prohibited from being in the area between the Willamette River and Second Street after 7 a.m. that day. There is an exception for service dogs and dogs at their normal place of residence.
However, canines will be on hand for the X-treme Air Dog Competition, which will be held downtown Friday and Saturday. Dogs and owners will compete in distance and height jumping contests. Competitors must be 9 or older, and can work with any breed or age of dog. Activities go from 11 a.m. till after dark Friday, and from noon to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for children 7-13, and free for kids under 6.
SCIO
Veterans memorial dedication
A dedication ceremony for the veterans memorial will be at 11 a.m. Friday next to the Thomas Creek Bridge in Scio.
The memorial contains a new flag pole and features five brick-lined columns formed in a V shape surrounded by plants and trees.
The ceremony is expected to include a flyover and an honor guard.
ST. PAUL
St. Paul Rodeo
The 73rd annual St. Paul Rodeo continues through Saturday at the St. Paul Rodeo Grandstand.
There will be rodeo events, carnival rides, Western art exhibitions, food and fireworks displays on the rodeo grounds.
The grounds will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight. Rodeo performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
There will be fireworks displays following each rodeo performance.
