Holiday sales will help kids in Cameroon

Posted: Friday, December 5, 2008 12:00 am

Educare-Africa will have a display table at several upcoming events in the mid-valley, starting with one Saturday in Shedd.

The nonprofit is dedicated to improving living and learning conditions of students in Cameroon, and funds raised will go toward that cause.

For sale will be greeting cards; 8-by-10-inch matted photographs; dresses made by a women's group in Cameroon; African jewelry; traditional Cameroonian caps; a framed print, "Wintering with The Wapiti," by Julie Kramer Cole; CDs; and a few other items from Cameroon.

Here are the sites:

• Teen Challenge Christmas Bazaar, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, 31700 Fayetteville Drive, Shedd.

• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 13, at Riverview Hall, 37550 Gilkey Road, Scio.

• Salem Collector's Market, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14, Salem Armory.

• Noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 20, and 1 to 6 p.m. Dec. 22, Christian Supply bookstore, 2230 Santiam Highway S.E., next to the DMV. Due to limited space, these tables will have only a few smaller items for sale, including greeting cards, jewelry and CDs.

In addition to the display tables, Educare-Africa has its seventh annual Christmas giving tree at the Heritage Mall through Dec. 26 to support students in Cameroon. Envelopes on the tree have information about the students and their gift needs.
