People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.

ALBANY POLICE

Lost and naked - The mother of a 15-year-old boy called police saying the boy had been approached Tuesday night by someone in the Shop N Cart parking lot asking for directions to Fred Meyer. Then the man asked the boy if he liked his girlfriend, and gestured to a naked woman in the front seat of his car. The boy told police he thought he recognized the man but wasn't sure. He described the woman as "gross." The boy said nothing further happened. Police told his mother no crime had been committed, just "very poor judgment."

Painted lawn - A piece of property in dispute between neighbors on Meadowlark Court S.E. was spraypainted with the phrase, "I'm with jackass" Tuesday night. One neighbor admitted to painting the lawn, saying she could because it was her property. Police asked the neighbors to be civil to each other until the matter is resolved.

Dog gone again - A man who stole a dog from a home in the 600 block of Main Street June 17 allegedly took the dog again Monday. The man has been involved in multiple dog thefts. He had not been charged for the previous incident and has a mental health issue. This time he faces a charge of first-degree theft.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Arrest - Eric William Hildebrand, 20, of Albany was arrested on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle early this morning. The 2001 Kawasaki had been stolen in May from South Pacific Auto Sales, along with two four-wheelers.

Hildebrand's friend Zachariah Leon Lytell, 19, of Albany was riding the motorcycle Tuesday night in the Quartzville area, without a helmet, without insurance and with a suspended license when he crashed into a dirt shoulder. Alcohol was a factor. He was transported to the Lebanon hospital for treatment of serious injuries and cited for DUII. Deputies do not believe Lytell knew the bike was stolen.

Mower missing - A John Deere riding motor is missing from a shed at Oakville Cemetery, 31661 Oakville Road. The metal, roll-up door to the shed was also damaged. Loss of value: $2,180. A neighbor saw a vehicle leave the cemetery just after midnight Tuesday and got a description of the vehicle. Deputies are investigating.
