The Linn County Fair is two weeks away, but it's not too early to show you're "tough enough to wear pink."
The fair and some of its sponsors are bringing the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign back for a second year, after raising about $15,000 last year for equipment at Samaritan Health Services' new cancer treatment center in North Albany.
Organizers hope for at least $17,000 this year. Anyone can get involved by buying a Tough Enough to Wear Pink T-shirt or bracelet at Northwest Community Credit Union, 707 Waverly Drive S.E., or Coastal Farm and Home Supply, 1355 Goldfish Farm Road S.E.
Samaritan Albany General Hospital also will sell bracelets in the gift shop. Bracelets are $2 each, and T-shirts at Coastal and the credit union are $10 each.
In addition, Coastal next week will raffle off a guitar signed by country singer Phil Vassar, who will perform at the fair. The guitar will come with tickets to the fair, reserved seating tickets to the concert and a $200 gift card to Coastal.
The store is taking entries now, and the raffle will be held July 13. Coastal will also donate 25 cents to the campaign for every raffle entry.
