ALBANY POLICE

Ouch - A woman was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly throwing cans of food into the apartment of her husband's girlfriend. The cans hit the girlfriend's mother and a child being baby sat at the Geary Circle location. The girlfriend had apparently given the food to the wife, who said she did not want it and brought it back. Then the girlfriend gave it to her again. The wife then returned it again, via a toss through the door. Carmela Kay Dean, 25, of Albany was arrested on charges of harassment - domestic abuse, first-degree burglary for entering the residence and harassment.

Penalty: Essay - A group of young people were reportedly cussing loudly and being disruptive at a barbecue pit at Sunrise Park in southeast Albany just before 4 a.m. today. A neighbor called police but an officer could not locate the juveniles described. While searching, however, he located three boys at the Circle K. They were escorted home and given an assignment to write an essay on the importance of curfew. They agreed to each write an essay and turn it in to the officer within two weeks.

Gun theft - Someone called police when the driver-side rear window of his pickup was found busted and a Mossberg model 835 Magnum shotgun stolen. The call came in at 8:30 a.m. from the 3500 block of College Loop S.E. The gun is valued at $100.

DUII crash - Calls came in at around 9 p.m. Wednesday from two witnesses who saw a blue Ford pickup with a canopy hit a power pole near 3100 Tudor Way S.E. and keep going. The car and driver were located about half an hour later and the driver was asked to perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. Brian Lee Powell, 49, of Albany was arrested on charges of DUII and hit and run, and lodged at the Linn County Jail.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF

Truck vs. pickup - Deputies were called to the scene of a crash involving a semi-truck and pickup at 7:42 a.m. Wednesday near the 47200 block of Lyons-Mill City Drive. The pickup, driven by William Lytle, 77, of Lyons was exiting a driveway when the semi, driven by Noah Brett Beaman, 31, of Stayton, turned a corner and was unable to stop in time. The pickup was towed. Lytle was transported to Santiam Memorial Hospital with some bumps and bruises and pain in his neck from the seatbelt he was wearing. He was examined and released. It was determined Lytle was at fault. No citations were issued.
