People arrested are innocent unless proved otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
CORRECTION
Arrest - Tiffany Ruth Hagan, 35, of Lebanon turned herself in at the Linn County Jail April 23 on a probation violation warrant for absconding. The Democrat-Herald incorrectly listed her charge in the April 30 public safety log.
Albany police
Whiskey fight - Police responded about 3 p.m. Sunday to a report of an assault at a room at the Marco Polo Motel, 2410 Pacific Blvd. S.E.
According to police, two men had beat up a third man after he refused to open a bottle of whiskey he had with him. The suspects also took the victim's wallet, which had identification cards and a debit card but no cash.
The victim, Jeffery David Anderson, 53, was taken by medics to the Albany hospital.
Daniel Wayne Croteau, 47, and Robert William Tuttle, 51, were both arrested on charges of assault, robbery and criminal mischief. They were lodged in the Linn County Jail.
Croteau had been staying at the motel room where the incident occurred and Tuttle had been staying at Albany Helping Hands homeless shelter. They had been drinking prior to the reported assault, according to police.
Disturbance - Officers responded at 10:06 p.m. Saturday to the 3800 block of Somerset Avenue N.E. for a domestic disturbance.
According to police, a 44-year-old man choked his wife and later pointed an assault rifle at her. The man was arrested on misdemeanor charges of harassment, menacing and pointing a firearm at another. Police seized the rifle and a loaded shotgun from the home.
Vandalism - Vandals spray-painted letters on buildings at South Shore Elementary School sometime during the weekend. An employee found the graffiti Sunday and called police.
Also on Sunday, officers investigated spray painting on picnic benches at Eleanor Hackleman Park. They spoke with a teenage boy in the area but no charges were filed.
