People arrested are innocent unless proven otherwise in court. Initial charges often change as a case progresses.
Albany Police
Library window broken -Someone, probably using a rock, broke a window near the entrance to the Albany Public Library, 2450 14th Ave. S.E., early Saturday evening. Only the outer pane of the dual window was broken. No one got into the building. There are no suspects.
Trashed mailboxes - Several damaged mailboxes were reported to police and the Linn County Sheriff's Office starting Saturday morning. A mailbox in the 3100 block of Clay St. S.E. was "blown up," according to the owner. Another mailbox in the same block was reported bashed in with something resembling a bat, and so was a mailbox in the 3200 block. In Linn County, mailboxes in the 4100 block of Empire Way and in the 3800 and 4100 block of 40th Street also were reported damaged.
Pants down - A woman returning home in the 3500 block of Pacific Boulevard about 12:55 p.m. Saturday reported that a woman neighbor pulled down her pants and then went inside her house. This was reported as an ongoing issue. The woman's live-in companion said the woman peels off her clothes when she is not on her medication.
Compromising situation - Police discovered a 21-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman in the back seat of a Blazer in Bryant Park about 12:45 a.m. Sunday. The man had no clothes on. The officer told the pair the park was closed, and they were asked to get dressed and leave, which they did.
Tools taken - About $1,500 of Craftsman and Snap-On tools along with a tool box were reported taken from an unlocked pickup in the 1200 block of Walnut Street about 8:20 p.m. Sunday. Many of the tools are marked with three notches ground into the handles. Also taken was the in-dash radio/CD player valued at $300. The dome light was disabled.
Items taken - Several items were reported taken late Sunday night or early this morning from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 2800 block of 20th Avenue S.E. Missing are a GPS system, CD changer, yard tools, CDs and a laptop, valued together at about $2,650.
Linn County Sheriff
Motorcycle crash - A 33-year-old Mercer Island, Wash., man sustained scrapes to his hands and face and a gash across his nose when he crashed his dirt bike in the 36000 block of Bryant Drive about 6:40 p.m. Saturday. David Lee Herzog Jr. was driving east on Bryant Drive on his way into a field when he gave his bike too much gas on a gravel shoulder, causing the rear tire to spin out and the rear end of the motorcycle to slide out from under him. He tried to get control of the bike when the left front tire hit a parked utility vehicle and he fell off. Herzog was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to the hospital in Albany.
Canoe stolen - A green Old Town canoe valued at $800 was reported taken from a dock on the Calapooia River in the 35000 block of Oakville Road about 2:50 p.m. Sunday.
