Intoxicated bus rider - A city bus driver was injured Thursday when an intoxicated passenger twisted her wrist.

According to police, here's what happened: The intoxicated man got on the bus at Linn-Benton Community College. When the driver told him to get off, he refused. When the driver attempted to call campus security, the man grabbed her wrist. The man said he was in the FBI and was investigating a case. Two other passengers stepped in to help the driver and the man left.

When police arrived, campus security pointed out the suspect who was 15 feet up in a tree. The man came down on his own.

William Laroy Fox, 33, of Albany was lodged in the Linn County Jail on charges of fourth-degree assault and interfering with public transportation. He also had a failure to appear warrant from Multnomah County. Tractor crash - More details on Thursday morning's tractor crash on Santiam Highway S.E. were available this morning.

According to police reports, Perry Arthur Davis, 68, of Albany was driving a 1978 Chevy Nova and towing an antique tractor when he moved in between two westbound cars, striking both of them. One of the cars, driven by Minette Carnes, 43, of Albany, was pushed off the road and hit a Les Schwab Tire Center truck parked at the tire store. Carnes was taken to the Albany hospital with minor injuries.

The second car that was struck by the Nova was a Chevy Lumina driven by Charles Wesley Rogers, 82, of Albany. Both of those vehicles continued on Santiam and stopped at Fulton Street.

The tractor, which had been fishtailing, broke apart on the roadway. The report stated that the Nova did not have a proper tow hitch. Davis was cited for unsafe vehicle operation.

Suspicious check - An Albany couple received a suspicious check in the mail Tuesday and called the Democrat-Herald to warn others.

The cashier's check came via UPS and was for $6,820. There were no other papers with the check. The recipient made numerous phone calls and learned that if she tried to cash the check the amount would not be honored.

Stolen tools - A shop in the 34000 block of Spicer Drive was broken into sometime Wednesday night. Stolen items included a Hypertherm plasma cutter, two DeWalt 18-volt cordless drills, a DeWalt cordless reciprocating saw, porter-cable router, porter-cable framing nailer and six DeWalt 18-volt batteries. Estimated value: $3,300.

SWEET HOME POLICE

Reckless driving - Police arrested Walter Stanley Reck, 52, of Cascadia Thursday on Highway 20, in the narrows west of Sweet Home. Complainants alleged that Reck was driving in excess of 80 mph, passing in the median and that he ran three cars off the road. Reck was charged with felony driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, driving while suspended and driving uninsured. He was taken to Linn County Jail.
