The Diagnostic Imaging Program at Linn-Benton Community College has been nominated to compete in the Community College Bellwether Awards competition held by the University of Florida.

The Institute for Higher Education at the University of Florida accepts nominations each fall in three categories: Instructional Program Services; Planning, Government and Finance; and Workforce Development. LBCC is a finalist in the Workforce Development category.

Finalists from each category are invited to present on their identified programs. LBCC's program is "Going the Distance: Taking a Diagnostic Imaging Program to Frontier." Stacy Mallory, program chair for LBCC Diagnostic Imaging, and Ann Malosh, dean of LBCC's Health Occupation and Workforce Education Division, will present their program in Orlando on Jan. 26.

LBCC will compete against nine other community college programs from schools in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Kansas, Indiana, Iowa, South Carolina, Texas and Washington.

The award is part of the Community College Futures Assembly, which serves as a national independent policy think tank. Its purpose is to articulate the critical issues that face American community colleges and to recognize innovative programs.
