Albany to offer Zumba classes
The Albany Parks and Recreation Department is offering several five-week Zumba classes this fall for teens and adults. Zumba is a fusion of Latin and international music that creates an effective exercise workout:
• Zumba: 11:00 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Nov. 17 through Dec. 17, COOL! Swanson Park Action Center, 705 Railroad St. S.E.
• Zumba: 6:35 to 7:35 p.m., Thursdays, Nov. 19 through Dec. 17, COOL! Swanson Park Action Center, 705 Railroad St. S.E, and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturdays, Nov. 21 through Dec. 19, Flinn Block, 222 First Ave. S.W.
• Zumba Gold: 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 16 through Dec. 16, Flinn Block, 222 First Ave. S.W. Zumba Gold is designed for participants with less experience exercising and those who may have some physical limitations.
• Zumba Plus Toning: 6:35 to 7:35 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 16 through Dec. 16,Flinn Block, 222 First Ave. S.W. This Zumba exercise class includes a half hour of Zumba routines and a half hour of muscle-toning exercises. Participants can opt for either half or the full hour.
Cost is the same for any of the classes: two days is $67 for participants who live outside the Albany city limits or $50 for Albany residents; one day per week is $37/$28; drop-in visits are $7.
Participants who live outside the city limits may purchase an out-of-city user card for $40 per year and receive the resident price for Albany Parks and Recreation offerings. Family cards are $80 and can be used by any member of the immediate family.
