Albany Police

Cleaver wielder update - Last week police responded to a late-night call about a man threatening his neighbor with a meat cleaver. At the time, they were unable to locate the suspect. Late Monday, police arrested Jason Edward McCauley, 28, of Albany late Monday night in the 800 block of Fourth Ave. S.E. McCauley had less than an ounce of marijuana on him. He was lodged at Linn County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and menacing. He was scheduled to appear in court today.

Stolen angels - A caller reported the theft of two decorative angels from the 1800 block of Walnut Street S.E. sometime since last Tuesday. A lighted baby Jesus figure was also defaced with profanity and painted purple in the face. Police have no suspects.

Missing safe - Police took a call from a resident of the 1300 block of Oak Street S.E. that a burglar pried open the front door of a home and stole a safe and other items sometime between Friday and Monday. No further details were available.

Linn County Sheriff

Weekend break-in - A warehouse and office building in the 22200 block of Coburg Road were broken into sometime over the weekend. A seed bagging machine was damaged and a stocked office medical cabinet was reported stolen. Total loss of value and damage: $765. Due to the random damage to the seed machine and low street value of bandages and gauze, deputies suspect kids.

Metal detector stolen - A metal detector worth about $900 was reported stolen from the 29700 block of Santiam Terrace Road Monday afternoon. Costume jewelry worth about $75 was also reported stolen. The residents believe the home was broken into sometime between Thanksgiving and Monday. Deputies have no suspects.

Lebanon Police

Robbery - Police are investigating a robbery that occurred around 7:55 p.m. Sunday at the Peppers Deli, 2752 S. Santiam Highway.

According to police, a man entered the restaurant, displayed a handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of money. At least one employee was in the restaurant at the time. No one was injured. The robber was described as being 5-foot-11 with a thin build. He was wearing blue jeans, a dark blue and black hoodie, and a baseball hat.
