SALEM - Country singer Alexis Ebert of Albany will perform as part of the "Cool Country Benefit Concert" Aug. 14 in Salem at the LB Day Amphitheater.
The concert, which starts at 6:30 p.m., is a fundraiser for the Salem/Keizer based charity ESCAPE, which is dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse. The charity founded a child abuse prevention center in Salem that operated for 14 years before lack of funding closed it down, but the group is working on a reopening.
Alexis will open for award-winning singer-songwriter Hal Ketchum.
Alexis, 19, began her singing career in Albany. At age 14, she had one of her first songs, "The Real Me," featured in the film "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen."
In 2008, she signed a co-venture deal with Skyline and Sony Tree ATV in Nashville.
