The new Albany Public Library at 2450 14th Ave. S.E. is closed today because of a broken water line.

City spokeswoman Marilyn Smith said no water is getting to the building. A crew from T. Gerding Construction, Corvallis, was on its way this morning to Albany to assess the situation and arrange for repairs.

The contractor remodeled the former insurance building into a library, which opened March 2.

The Carnegie Library at 302 Ferry St. S.W. is open.
