Bob Anderson, 1992 Timber Carnival president and former city of Albany forester, has been diagnosed with stage-four gastrointestinal cancer.
His family is asking for donations to help cover medical and living expenses.
Anderson, 51, said his doctors tell him his future is "bleak and not good."
When Anderson was diagnosed last August, he was told he probably had six months to live.
Anderson worked for the city from October 1980 to May 1998.
After that, he moved to Pensacola, Fla., to attend the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry. Following graduation, he worked in prison ministries, served a church on an American Indian reservation in Washington, and criss-crossed the United States twice, conducting ministries.
In Albany, he helped with worship services at various churches and also worked for an excavating company.
He and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Jami and Michael.
Tax-deductible donations can be sent to Bob Anderson's attention at Sent Ministries, 777 College Park Drive S.W., Unit 38, Albany, OR 97322. Checks should be made out to Sent Ministries.
Donations also can be deposited into the Bob Anderson Medical Fund at any Citizens Bank.
Anderson would also enjoy having cards and letters sent to the College Park address.
