Kenzee's Big Box Bake Sale will be open for service for those who need a little sweet treat and don't mind spending some spare change to get it.

McKenzee Ghormey, 8, a soon-to-be second-grader at Lafayette Elementary School, is preparing for her second bake sale. In 2007, she raised $150 to lessen the load on her mom, Nisha Ghormey, by buying her own school clothes.

This year McKenzee is selling the baked goods to buy a Nintendo DS, a handheld game system that costs $100. If she makes more than that, she will probably spend it on clothes or a gift for her mom or sister.

"My friend Christina has one and I really want one," she said.

McKenzee will be selling snickerdoodles, s'mores, brownies, cupcakes, peanut butter bites, ice tea and lemonade, ranging in price from 50 cents to $1.50.

Four generations of McKenzee's family helped make the stand possible. While McKenzee took care of her sister, her mother and grandmother Suzanne Ghormey were busy baking all the goodies to sell. McKenzee jumped in to decorate the stand, which was made out of recycled material by her great-grandma Jackie Ghormey, with 3-D chalk.

"People can look at the designs with the 3-D glasses," McKenzee said. "But they have to take turns because I only have three pairs."

The stand will be set up at 8 a.m. today at the Jedson apartments, on Jackson Street between 32nd and 34th streets. It will stay open until everything is sold.
