Albany Police
Copper theft - A construction company notified police of a theft at its 421 Water Ave. N.E. location Tuesday morning. Taken were: welding lead and accessories to the welding lead that contain copper. No loss of value was listed.
Burglary - A mag drill valued at $2,000 was reported stolen Monday from a fabrication shop in the 100 block of Queen Avenue S.W. A pad lock was broken off and the doors were busted open.
Fraud - An Albany man was the victim of a scam when he cashed a check he received in the mail in the amount of $3,948.03 from a group claiming to pay people to be secret shoppers. The company, believed by police to be a front for scamming, is listed in the letter as The SWA Group of Sausalito, Calif. The man told police he used the money to pay for a vacation he recently took. He told police the bank notified him the check was fake on Wednesday and it wanted its money back. Police advised him he would need to work out the matter with the bank.
Linn County Sheriff
Arrest - Jamie Roger Connell, 36, a transient, was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree theft by receiving, stemming from a case from earlier this month of tools stolen from a shed.
Tampering - Adam Lee Zurcher, 24, of Albany was arrested Monday on charges of tampering with a drug record and possession of a controlled substance. Zurcher allegedly stole a bottle of prescription medicine from someone's purse at a party.
Sweet Home Police
You've got ID theft - A woman called police Friday after her mother-in-law allegedly set up an Internet account in her name. A report was taken for identity theft.
Burglary - A woman called police Friday saying someone broke into her father's Elm Street home. A report was taken for first-degree burglary.
