The Albany Police Department is reminding the public that it is collecting used cell phones to give to victims of domestic violence.
Officer Ryon McHuron, who coordinates the collection at the police station, said the police have some phones to give away but they are running low.
The police department and the Linn County Victim Services Program give the phones to victims of domestic violence or other crimes who may need to call for help.
Phones no longer in service can still be used to call 911.
Any donated phone will have personal information cleared from it before it is given away.
Phones and their chargers can be dropped off at the police station, 1117 Jackson St. S.E., or at the Linn County District Attorney's Office at the Linn County Courthouse, 300 Fourth Ave. S.W.
